Lot Description:Finely Carved Wood Anteater Figure, Ex John Freide Collection, Highlands of Papua New Guinea
though this little carving is not really old it certainly caught the eye of the great New Guinea Art Collector John Friede of the JOLIKA Collection. It is in the style of the great Ancient Stone Figure that is in the National Gallery of Australia. It's unknown when or where Fried acquired this figure. I think it has great merit as a sculpture and that is why I bought it.
