Lot Description:A Fine Old Lidded Fishing Tackle Box, called Taluma. Tokelau Islands, 19th to Early 20th Century
Tokelau is a very remote Micronesian settlement of 3 tiny atolls. This type of box was used for fishing lures & tackle when out at sea, if your canoe overturned or something the box with your lures would be safely floating on the surface, this fine example has most of its original pearl shell inlays & the original sennit cord to close the box tight.
