  Three ornate whip handles by VERNAN HENRY YATES 40th Battalion, The Derwent Regiment (Tasmania)
  Three fine and unusual examples from the 1930s made from Tasmanian timbers inlaid with metal work depicting various symbols and motifs many to do with horse racing which was a passion of Yates’. Yates was born at Sorell, Tasmania in 1900, and enlisted in the army June 1942.
