    A stunning antique Burmese silver ceremonial betel box
    Decorated with six deep repoussé cartouches showing Burmese mythological scenes with lotus and scroll frieze The lid also beautifully worked in repoussé with seven further figural vignettes and a spectacular cast finial figure of HANUMAN holding his tail. Lower Burma, circa 1890.
    24cm high, 15.5cm diameter, 958 grams.
  • Provenance:
    Private Collection, Melbourne. Originally acquired in Rangoon circa 1900 by the British manager of a teak plantation who then moved to South Australia in 1918 to Mount Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills (Now a hotel).
