The beautiful view was marred to him by the suburban villas and affluent yachts; symbols of the European invasion. Feeling thoroughly isolated in the wealthy, leisurely suburb of Manly, Trevor Nickolls tried to visualise the beauty of this landscape before the coming of the white man. The painting relies heavily on the Papunya 'dotting' technique.''
