Notes:Joan Baker was born in Santa Rosa California on 27th December 1937. She earned the title of Miss California as a young woman. She married Dick Baker on April 5 1957 and lived in Sydney from 1957 to 1975 when she and Dick returned to the US. She took lessons in painting in Sydney and continued to paint for the rest of her life and had many exhibitions in Half Moon Bay, California where she was an owner of a gallery. She also exhibited her work in Sydney in the 1990's. The painting for sale is 'Sunrise over the Heads" and is an oil painting she made based on the view from her penthouse apartment in Darling Point. While she lived in Sydney she and Dick were well known personalities. He was the founder and shareholder of Mainline Corporation, a property developer. They were the owners of the Hermitage in Rose Bay where they lived for many years with their three sons who were educated at nearby Scots College.
