  each carved seated on its haunches facing forward, one with jaws open in snarling expression, the thick mane, upright tail and hair tufts picked out in red on the gilt ground, the other with jaws closed, a single horn between the ears, painted with green detailing on the gilt ground, both with inlaid eyes
