  • Notes:
    The phoenix is one of four sacred creatures displayed in Vietnamese water puppetry: the dragon, the phoenix, the golden tortoise and the unicorn. The “dance of the phoenix” is a favourite, representing the love between men and women and the love of freedom. [NB: The puppet is accompanied by two books on the subject].
