  A Pair of Glass Intaglio Earrings
  The shepherds hooks suspending a green and clear glass intaglio engraved with a crown to a border of rose and thistle and the words 'GOD SAVE THE KING' in reverse, gross weight approximately 9.50 grams, mounted in 18k gold, length (including pendant drop) 3.00cm.
• Notes:
  The thistle is the symbol of Scotland, while the rose is the symbol of England. The marriage of James IV, King of Scots (the thistle), and Margaret Tudor, the eldest daughter of Henry VII of England (the rose) had been agreed in the Treaty of Perpetual Peace of 1502. This treaty was intended to effect a reconciliation between the kingdoms of Scotland and England which had been at war intermittently since 1296.
