Lot Description:A Softwood Ceremonial Paint Bowl, Moun Village On The Unir River, Asmat Region, West Papua, 1960s Or Earlier
In shape of small canoe with carved head & Hornbill (broken) at bow. The Stern has a human figure in squatting position with feet bent back underneath. Sides of bowl are decorated with incisions & the figure with shoulder & cheek scarification marks. Figure is very discoloured but traces of brown ochre on the design is evident. Stand not included.
