Notes:Jeannie is a Papunya artist now living in Kintore & Kiwikura. Her husband Kanya Tjapangardi is a world renown artist from the Western Desert & specifically Kiwikura. Jeannie began painting in the late 1990's encouraged by her husband Kanya. She inherited her stories from her grandmother & birth mother, Nungarri Nungurrayi (now deceased). In her paintings Jeannie portrays women travelling through sandhills (tali) and over harsh country for many days to reach the sacred site to perform ceremonies. Paintings of women gathering berries, seeds and tubers as well as water sources and rockholes, often dried up in what is a very harsh desert existence.
