  • Notes:
Born on Utopia Station, Gracie Morton is the daughter of artist Myrtle Petyarre. As with other women artists from the Utopia region, she began her painting career in the 1980's working with batik, then began painting with acrylics on canvas. Her style of painting is distinctly minimalist: she uses a very delicate dotting technique and traditional colours, which derive from the colours of natural ochres. Her signature theme in her paintings is the Bush Plum known to the Alyawarre as Arnwekety. Source: Aboriginal Artists; Dictionary of Biographies
