  Roland Wakelin was inspired to paint this work after seeing a production of Hamlet at a venue on Challis Avenue, Potts Point, Sydney. The Wakelin family would often read Shakespeare's work out loud. Roland's father loved Shakespeare so much that he was christened Roland Shakespeare Wakelin.
