Lot Description:TOYE BROTHERS, PORTLAND, VIC. - A group of four shipping scene images
each approx. 11 x 16cm and all depicting scenes on the wharves at Portland in Western Australia, circa 1921. The first is titled in the negative: “Shipping Wheat, deep water pier Portland Victoria”, the next three are titled in white ink: “The SS Australford - first ship to take cargo of wheat from Portland”; “The SS Australford, first ship to load wheat at Portland, Mch 1921” & “Shipping Wheat on SS “Cufic” at Portland Vic.” -
Notes:The Toye Brothers had a studio on Bentinck Street, Portland, circa 1910 - 1940. All images are block mounted with “TOYE BROS., Photographers, Hamilton & Portand.” handstamps verso.
