Peace! - Surrender of General Lee and His Whole Army” with transcript of War Department order for a National “Two Hundred Guns” Salute following General Lee’s surrender on April 9; (April 17) mourning edition headed “Our Great Loss” following Lincoln’s assassination on April 15 with articles including “Last Moments of the President”, “The Great Calamity” and the “Inauguration of Andrew Johnson”; (Apr.29) edition with article headed “Booth’s Fate” detailing the April 26 capture and death of Lincoln’s assassin, plus analysis of the surrender of General Joseph Johnston and the Confederate Army of Tennessee.
