1950 FORD CUSTOM DELUXE FORDOR SEDAN
Chassis no: OA732647. Engine No: OB281664F
  • Notes:
Ford Australia produced the 1949, 1950 and 1951 V8 models offering standard and deluxe variants in 4-door sedan and as 2-door coupe utility body styles. Australian content on the locally produced models had reached 80% by 1950. The 1949 and 1950 styling was enhanced by a single central spinner, as it is affectionately designated in the imposing and expressive chrome grille. The interior design became more lavish and these variants are now important to pundits with the model names describing the various factory options with the Deluxe superseding the Standard and the Custom Deluxe outdoing the Custom. This new era of Fords bore the now-famous Ford crest which has appeared on their vehicles for many decades in one form or another. The Crestliner, as the OBA ranges are sometimes referred, continued for one more year and from 1951 Fords sported a new dual-bullet grille and heavy chrome bumpers now famously known as the twin-spinners. This delightful and original example was bought by Trevor and Vespa Norley of Eden Valley in 1997 apparently after seeing it advertised in Australian Classic Car Monthly by Granview Motors of Western Australia as a Ford Spinner with original leather trim that, “looks good and goes great with white walls tyres”. The Norleys thoroughly maintained this car until it changed ownership to Clem Smith in about 2007. Throughout the Norley ownership, this car was treated respectfully with annual servicing and maintenance. Detailed receipts are available on request and will accompany the car. Presented in grey livery this car has the original olive green faux croc upholstery and renewed carpets. The car is powered by the famous naturally aspirated 3.9-litre, side-valve V8 motor utilising a single Stromberg carburettor and a 3-speed column shift transmission. It is fitted with drum brakes front and rear and runs on Firestone White Wall tyres. It currently has an odometer reading of 58,643 miles having had about 49,000 miles on it when it was bought by Mr. Norley, in 1997. The car was carefully selected by Clem Smith for his collection and has been kept in running condition. This vehicle will be sold unregistered.
