  • Notes:
The creation of the Group A Delta Integrale followed iconic Lancia rally cars such as the Stratos, 037 and Delta S4 - all absolutely amazing rallying machines that were supported by highly-desirable road car variants. The road-going Delta Integrale matched its chunky, square-edged styling with a totally competition-bred attitude. Between 1987 and 1992, the fabulous Integrale utterly dominated its genre of motor sport, winning forty-six rallies and six Constructors' Championships! Versions of the Delta HF Integrale went through several iterations, each one outdoing the previous model's potency. Lancia-Martini ceased its factory Rally program at the end of the 1991 season but privateer teams continued to campaign the Integrale successfully for years afterwards. Launched in 1979, the original Delta was Lancia's first small conventional hatchback model built by the parent company, Fiat. In the beginning, the Delta was not intended to be a competition rally machine, and with design input from Giugiaro, the Delta offered good use of space with compact overall dimensions. Engine capacities initially were 1.4 and 1.5-litres with not an inkling of the possibility of a performance variant. Then, at the 1982 Turin Motor Show, the prototype Delta Turbo 4x4 was launched. This was the early development of the Integrale so revered today. The road going Integrale exceeded expectations and despite being offered only in left-hand drive; it was well received in the UK. In 1983, the decision was taken to transform the Integrale into a world-beating rally car. Hence, the engineering team, headed by Cesare Fioro, created the '037', a 4 cylinder 1995cc with volumetric compressor. This was followed by the Delta S4, a rocket of a car with a tubular chassis and a 1759cc 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with an output of 450bhp. In competition, its strongest opposition came in the form of its German rival, the Audi Quattro. Against this background, production Delta models were small, agile and very quick with the advantage of being reasonably affordable, in simple terms, the Integrale has become a competition icon and is properly recognised as a true drivers' machine. This production 1991 Lancia Integrale HF Evoluzione I, popularly referred to as the EVO 1, (the Evo 2 being the last variant of the model) was originally delivered in Italy. It was imported to Australia and converted to right hand drive by Tony Viscuso. Its Vehicle Identification Number was granted in 2003. The current owner is a Lancia enthusiast and collector who has cared for this highly-desirable motor car using it sparingly to maintain its low mileage of approximately 70,000kms and its good overall condition. This Integrale offers a rare opportunity in Australia to acquire a collectors own motorcar, striking in its red livery and smart grey velour upholstery, all well-preserved and original. This vehicle will be sold unregistered
