  • Notes:
Jaguar's legendary XK120 sports car was launched at the Earl's Court Motor Show in 1948. Its successor the XK140 was launched in 1954 and remained in production until it was in turn replaced by the XK150 in 1957. The Jaguar XK140 featured improved interior space over its predecessor with an approximate extra 3 inches legroom, along with better brakes and suspension and rack and pinion steering. The XK140 also differentiated in looks with heavier front and rear bumper bars and indicators. Larger doors also made ingress and egress easier. In SE configuration with its C-Type head, the XK140 produced 210 bhp and the 3.4 litre engine could achieve a top speed of just over 120 mph. The boot badge acknowledged the Company's racing success at Le Mans by recording the years of Jaguar's success in the 24 Hour Race. This stunning, matching numbers, manual (gearbox number JL 31005), example of the Jaguar XK140 SE Fixed-head coupé was manufactured on the 9th August 1955. It was dispatched on the 18th August 1955 to the American distributor, Hoffman of New York. XK140 Chassis number S 814607, underwent a complete body off restoration and conversion to right hand drive by specialists Memory Lane Classic Auto Restorations of Bayswater, Western Australia in 2001. In current ownership for over fifteen years the vehicle has subsequently taken part in the Darwin - Alice Springs Commemorative Jaguar run and various club events and is the recipient of numerous concourse awards including Silver at Melbourne in 2001, National Gold in 2001 and 2002, Gold at Melbourne in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and winning the Historic Motor Regularity in 2008 and 2009. Still in concourse condition, it has all new leather upholstery in correct red interior trim colour, power-assisted front disc brakes by Guy Broad of the UK, a full and correct tool kit and five new SS spoke Dunlop wire wheels, along with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate.
