Lot Description:A large, mid-18thC blown milk-glass apothecary bottle
cylindrical with spreading foot and small flaring mouth set with disc stopper, with painted polychrome cartouche. Inscribed with black alchemical symbol and lettering : ìAqua: CORT: ORANT:" (Aqua Corticum Aurantii [distillation of orange peel]). Both stopper and bottle shoulder etched 'VIII'. Height 190. -
Provenance:A 19thC London pharmacist, William Thomas Robinson, to his son by bequest, thence to his daughter our vendor.
