  A 1957 Maico Maicoletta 250cc Motor Scooter
  Maico was a motorcycle manufacturer based in Germany. It was founded in 1926 before ceasing trading in 1983. It is most famous for producing excellent motocross and off-road bikes but also produced road bikes and motor scooters. The company's first scooter was the Maicomobile of 1952 followed by the beautiful Maicoletta in 1955. The Maicoletta as its name implies was more sleek and stylish than its bulky predecessor and available in 175cc, 250cc, 275cc options, with a reputation for stability at high speed. The build quality of all Maico products is acknowledged as being very high. The Maicoletta which was very well received at launch and utilised top end components including a Bosch 6v electric rock and roll" starter, a speedo with gear indicator, 8-day mechanical clock set in the dash, and a glovebox with steering column lockThis lovely Australian delivered 1958 250cc two stroke Maicoletta is a rare and desirable scooter and an excellent example of the marque which is increasingly of interest to collectors worldwide. Believed delivered by Modac motorcycles in Melbourne in 1959/60, it has been restored back to how it left the factory in 1958 by well known scooter enthusiast . Correct factory colour scheme, matching numbers engine all restored to the highest level using many rare new old stock parts. Just two owners from new it comes with some books, manual and advertising ephemera."
