• Notes:
  The great American vehicle company Chevrolet produced its Master and Master Deluxe models between 1933 and 1942, the luxury car in the Chevrolet range at this time. The 1939 Chevrolet 85 Master Coupe is a significant pre war beauty designed for the aspiring fashionable businessman with seating for two, five windows and luggage compartments in the rear body and rear deck. The stylish design of the Master Series JB model with its distinctive long hood, offered elaborate options such as headlights atop the front bumpers. It is appointed with a four on the floor gearbox, a Rochester GM carburettor and a recently overhauled distributor. The grille had horizontal bars and the body built by Fisher, gave sleek, curvaceous lines similar to the Cadillac of its time. The six-cylinder cast-iron block engine displaced 216.5 cubic-inches and produced 85hp. There were four-wheel hydraulic brakes on all four corners of the car. Buyers were offered a 1000 mile tune up and service considered the final adjustment to the new car. Design changes improved suspension with coil springs and wishbones. This car was assembled at the Oshawa facility in Canada, a Chevrolet production facility since 1919. It was one of six locations established by Chevrolet before it merged with GM. This is a luxury appointed coupe of the between the wars era finished in dark blue livery with red pin stripe and with brown vinyl trim. The body bares the ÔFisher of Canada' oval brass medallion.
