Lot Description:A Balinese jewel encrusted gold mounted Kris, probably early 19th century
with a court style hilt repousse decorated with the figure of Bataru Bayu, the god of wealth and well being, seated on a tumpal throne, the hilt decorated with semi precious cabochon cut stones
66cm including the scabbard -
Notes:Keris blades made of Pamor are considered very valuable and were part of the pustaka or heirlooms of the aristocracy to be passed from generation to generation. They are considered to have magic and to imbue magic and power on their owners.
