Lot Description:Small Cylindrical Stone
With both ends painted, pecked & hammer dressed small prehistoric stone tool, Washkuk people, upper Sepik Region of Papua New Guinea. Likely to be a small stone axe, previously hafted for fine stone work but similar stones have been said to be magic stones. Similar stones but lacking the central area for hafting were used in New Caledonia as sling stones.
