Dived into the ground after flying into a storm at night, all eight crew were killer. One, the Rear Gunner, was Australian - Flight Sgt Ernest M. Buckby of Camp Hill, Queensland. This Lancaster had been used extensively by 617 Squadron in training for Dambusters Raid. As it was a 'standard' Lancaster, not converted to carry a bouncing bomb, it was not used in the raid. -
