Lot Description:The 1873 Sunbury Cup Australian silver trophy for greyhound coursing, attributed to Edward Fischer (1828-1911)
the ovoid vessel in the Etruscan manner, rising to a waisted neck, flanked by foliate angular scroll handles chased and engraved with scenes after Frederick Woodhouse, to the front depicting a greyhound standing amongst a rocky terrain, on a stippled ground, to the reverse a further scene depicting greyhounds in pursuit of a hare, inscribed to the neck 'NICODEMUS.' above 'WINNER OF THE SUNBURY CUP / being the first run for in the Colony / owned and bred by FREDERICK ROW / 1873', raised on a stepped circular foot engraved with a Greek-key border, unmarked but assayed as sterling silver
trophy 27 cm high; 35.5 cm high including the base -
