Lot Description:1910-13 BRITISH ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION: 1914 (March 6) autographed letter on “TERRA NOVA R.Y.S.” letterhead
to “Silas” (Charles Seymour) WRIGHT, from “Parney” in which he pleads “For Gawd’s Sake come up & try and flog this Bloody Beardmore out on Monday. I’m like the Camel - I’ve got the Bloodty ‘ump.” signing off, “Thine with patience exhausted.” Accompanied by a carbon copy of Wright’s response. Also, A Nov.1913 letter to “Silas” from the same correspondent regarding uncertainty about a True Bearing in Edward Evans’ book in which the location of a flagstaff on Cape Barne (near Cape Evans) in Antarctica needs confirmation. Notes:Sir Charles Seymour Wright [1887-1975] was a Canadian member of Scott’s Terra Nova Expedition. He acted as expedition physicist and glaciologist. Sir William Beardmore, 1st Baron Invernairn (1856 – 1936) was an Anglo-Scottish industrialist, ship-builder and one of the financial backers of Antarctic exploration. Beardmore Glacier was named by Shackleton after Sir William Beardmore
