    A folio of unusual dry-point etchings from artists of the Accademia di Belle Arti, Bologna, circa 1810
    Comprising five landscape scenes one each by Francesco Zambeccari, Leandro Marconi, Gaetano Tanibroni, Niccola Scarani and Cesare Lamberlini Elettore
  • Notes:
    After the invasion of Italy by Napoleon in 1796 the administration founded The Accademia Nazionale di Belle Arti di Bologna, in the buildings of the former Jesuit Church and convent of Sant'Ignazio. The name was changed in 1805 to Reale Accademia di Belle Arti, Bologna and remained so until 1815. Interestingly Francesco Zambeccari, whose work is represented in the lot, became better known for his contributions as a pioneer of Italian aviation and hydrogen balloon flight.
