Notes:Jacoulet was born in France but moved to Japan with his family at the age of four where he remained. Most of his portraits depict the subjects engaged in routine tasks but at the same time also reflect insights into the sitter's personality. The painstaking detail of these prints is apparent at a glance. Jacoulet is reputed to have sometimes used as many as 300 blocks to create a single print
