  A well carved N.Z. greenstone (nephrite) taniwha sculpture by Steven Gwaliasi
  the stylised open worked sinuous figure with hands clasped to abdomen, its tail connected to the elbow, good dark green colourway, raised on a carved marble base with connecting portrait masks and whale and dolphin images. Height 185.
• Notes:
  Gwaliasi is a well-known sculptor, jeweller and educator who has taught at the Tai Poutini Polytechnic, Greymouth and elsewhere. Named to the base.
