Notes:The Bentley story began in October 1919 in an upstairs workshop in the New Street Mews, London. Without exhaust or silencer, the first engine was tested but not before an irate matron complained to the deference to a dying patient and the experiment was terminated. But, the engine had run, an experiment had succeeded and a legend was born. The engine was then lowered through a hole in the floor to the service station below. And so, the fabulous Bentley began to fascinate upwardly mobile sporting drivers, gentrified society and well-healed aristocrats with a need for speed and an appetite for style and luxury. Historically, Bentley has built high performance grand tourers and for these famed limousines the marque has become revered. Bentley introduced the Arnage in 1998, named after a corner at Le Mans racing circuit where so much history has been created by Bentley. The Arnage has gone on to become Bentley’s best-selling model. Initially powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4 litre V8 engine, the Arnage boasted impressive performance and refinement. In 1999, this Arnage became known as the Arnage Green Label, when the range was expanded to include the popular Arnage Red Label derivative, powered by Bentley’s 6.75 litre turbocharged V8 engine and effectively this Arnage RL is a Bentley Arnage R with a 25 cm (10 inch) extended wheelbase and was only available as a bespoke Mulliner built model, with each RL customised to the desires of the buyer. The Arnage RL also presented a credible challenge to BMW's attempts to revive the Rolls-Royce brand with its new model, the Phantom. And, it is no wonder with the 6750 cc V8 engine with two Garrett T3 turbochargers that put out 400 bhp at 4000 rpm and 835 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm! This striking Sapphire blue Arnage RL 4-speed automatic was delivered to Giltrap Prestige of Auckland, in December 2002 and purchased on the 3 January, 2003. It appears to have been exported to Australia and underwent its first service at Bentley Gold Coast in March 2004 with an odometer reading of 6,918kms. The service books show the car has undergone annual services by Bentley Brisbane ever since and currently has an odometer reading of 120,5000 approx. It was purchased by the Late Burton “Pete” Peterson from Bentley Brisbane on 27th October 2016. The next service is due in July 2017. This handsome car is one of a mere 87 right-hand drive examples built in total between 2003 and the end of the model run in 2009, and is one of only 14 right-hand drives built in 2003 making this a unique bespoke motorcar built by the famed coachbuilder Mulliner, synonymous with Bentley. Beautifully presented throughout and with recorded servicing history and complete books, this luxurious 4-door sedan would make a most handsome and stylish acquisition for the discerning motorist.
