  • Notes:
Renzo Rivolta’s Isothermos company began making refrigerators before the war and started building scooters, under the ISO name, after the war. After trial and error, ISO launched the Diva, in 1957, which was sold as the Milano overseas. The Milano utilised single-sided stub axles holding the wheels, and was powered by a conventional 146cc two-stroke single producing 6.5bhp. But, the scooter market had evolved and larger models capable of two-up touring were in demand. Although more than 2,500 agents were in situ in Europe, ISO had designs on their future Gran Turismo car production which included the Rivolta, Grifo, Fidia and Lele models and ceased making scooters, in 1960. The ISO Milano is subsequently one of the most collectible of all scooters. In the words of a London ISO advertisement in the day, “Whether for work or pleasure the 150cc ISO Scooter meets your every requirement for this modern age. Beautifully designed, this precision-made machine offers a magnificent performance with the utmost economy and reliability. Combining superb suspension, light positive steering, fantastic roadholding and powerful brakes, the ISO will delight the enthusiast and novice alike”. This example for auction has been in its current ownership for ten years after being acquired from CASA Lambretta, in Western Australia. This scooter was originally purchased and registered in South Australia. In its current ownership, the ISO has had the frame and wheels powder coated, the engine overhauled, new wiring including the LED taillight, new tyres and is purportedly all ready to start and run. The custom exterior paintwork was done by the owner/designer looking for something a little different. The sale is accompanied by its workshop manual, parts lists and workshop tools.
