    An Aboriginal Bardi Shield
    carved softwood in bi-convex sections, deep-cut sunken grip. Face: incised with linear, geometric motifs in a continuous zig-zag pattern, with grooving making distinct panels, dyed with deep red ochre. Back: scalloped longitudinal fluting. Fluted and patterned with alternating sections of yellow and red ochre. Circa 1900 Dampier Peninsula, Western Australia
