  March 1879 mss copy of letter from ex-NSW Governor Hercules Robinson
  in which he discusses his pleasure in hearing about the decision to hold the SIE and expressing his regret that he was "....unable to continue in New South Wales until after the opening of the Exhibition....."
• Notes:
  On 24 February 1879, Robinson was transferred to New Zealand, and on 21 August 1880, in the wake of the Anglo-Zulu War, he succeeded Sir Henry Bartle Frere as High Commissioner for Southern Africa. Robinson had been Governor of NSW from 1872 - 1879.
