Lot Description:A pair of Australian gold mounted malachite pendant earrings by Henry Steiner, Adelaide, circa 1870
each with a pendant drop section of malachite suspended from gold grape leaves and tendrils and a button of malachite, marked "HSt/18", 18 carat yellow gold, 7.3 cm long. -
Notes:Rich deposits of malachite where discovered around Burra, South Australia in the 1850s.
