Lot Description:1927 Royal Visit for the Opening of Parliament House, black leather wallet
imprinted '[Coat of Arms]/ Establishment / of / The Seat of Government / At / CANBERRA / By / His Royal Highness / THE DUKE OF YORK / MAY 1927' in gold, with blue leather fold-out 1st Class return train ticket #11, inscribed 'ROYAL VISIT / CANBERRA CEREMONY / MAY, 1927' filled out to 'Mrs S.M. Bruce' for sleeping berth travel from Melbourne to Canberra, also admission tickets for ceremony 'Stand A in front of Parliament House', 'Senate Chamber seat #19', 'State Luncheon seat #15, table Special' and ' Reception to Overseas Representatives', very good condition. (6 items) -
Notes:Stanley Bruce was the eighth Prime Minister of Australia, the above ticket issued for his wife Ethel Bruce, (nee Anderson). Ethel's brothers-in-law, Ewen, David and Newton, were all decorated Australians serving in the Boer War and WWI (including Gallipoli).
