451 Cal; f. bore; 33" barrel; fitted with standard rear sight of the period, front globe sight with windage adjustment & spirit level; borderline engraved lock marked THOMAS TURNER 8 FISHER STREET BIRMINGHAM; steel furniture with extended spur to rear of the t/guard; wrist fitted with a later period adjustable tang sight, orig tang base present but later period sight; vg profiles & clear markings; bluish/grey finish to barrel; soft brown patina to bands, t/guard & fittings; minor pitting to rear end of lock & hammer; vg orig stock with hairline crack on lhs from tang to 2nd lock retaining screw, chequered forend & wrist; silver plaque inlaid to rhs of butt reads Q (W) RV 11TH COMPANY FOR LADIES PRIZE WON BY PRIVATE WILLIAM LAY SEPTEMBER 29TH 1862; all complete with snap cap & chain & rod; vgwo & cond. -
