  Australian Colonial Tower D/B Smooth Bore Military Carbine
  650 Carbine bore; 25¾" barrels fitted with captive r.rod; f to g bore; back action locks marked ROYAL CYPHER VR TOWER & dated 1854; soft mellow patina to brass regulation furniture with Brunswick Patt scroll t/guard; dark blue/black re-finish to barrels executed many years ago with fine pitting on the top rib; silver grey patina to locks & hammers; g. profiles & clear markings; vg orig stock with minor bruises, rhs having JS deeply carved; lhs of forend fitted with a saddle ring & bar; all complete; gwo & vg cond. These carbines were used as a gold escort during the Gold rush days by the Police Forces of the period & are very similar in appearance to the d/b percussion cape carbines.
