Lot Description:Cased 1851 London Navy Percussion Revolver With Australian Provinence
36 Cal; 6 shot cylinder; 190mm (7½") oct barrel with one line London address; LONDON PROOF struck to lhs of barrel lug & Colt's patent to lhs of frame; iron back strap & t/guard; g. profiles; crisp & clear markings; soft bluish/grey patina to barrel, cylinder, frame, back strap & t/guard; fitted with orig pr of Colt walnut one pc grips retaining some orig varnish. Presented in its orig Colt case; partitioned & lined in blue baize with orig turn screw, f. cond Colt 36 Cal bullet mould & modern Colt cap tin & correct type Colt Navy flask & cleaning rod. Revolver originally belonged to Edward Bate Scott who arrived to N.S.W. in 1838. In 1840 he joined John Aires exploration of the centre of Australia & subsequently became the sub protector of Aboriginals at Marundi. Further information available along with documentation.
