  J. Purdey Under Lever Hammer Shotgun
  12G; 2½" chambers; NP; 29¾" damascus barrels measuring 739 & 739, proofed at 740; exc bore; J.PURDEY 314 1/2 OXFORD ST LONDON address; 50% coverage of scroll engraving to action, locks & hammer; chequered wood with straight hand grip, butt showing marble cake walnut character, engraved heel & toe plates fitted; 14" LOP; 6lb 3 oz weight; vgwo & cond. In poor leather case, with Purdey storage sticker dated 11/5/1965 to its end. Purdeys have confirmed the gun was originally made as a pinfire in 1863, at some stage converted to C/F & 1965 was returned to Purdeys & NP for modern cartridges.
