Notes:Note on the purchase receipt reads “Watercolour, “Geelong Hunt Club meeting at the Wallington Hotel, 1861.” (The licencee of the hotel, on the Bellarine Peninsula, is shown as W. Lawrence; according to the records he was there only between 1861 and 1863. The Geelong Advertiser, of June 5, 1861 refers to a watercolour by Mr. George Gregory of a Hunt meeting in the Bream Creek area, which may well be this one. This painting was formerly in the possession of Mr. James Wilson, founder of the well-known St. Albans turf and race-course at Ocean Grove.
