    Earle, Augustus. A Narrative of Nine Months Residence in New Zealand in 1827
    Together with a Journal of a Residence in Tristan d’Acunha, an Island situated between South America and the Cape of Good Hope. Octavo, with seven aquatint plates after Augustus Earle (two folding), with library stamps, bound in old half calf, rebacked retaining original spine. London, Longman, 1832.
  • Notes:
    First edition of an important travel account by one of the first professional artists in the Pacific. Earle had become entranced with the Pacific while artist on Philip Parker King’s Beagle voyage of South American survey, leaving the ship at Sydney on their homeward journey. Although he spent a productive time here, Earle did not publish an account of his travels in Australia and this is the only literary production from his antipodean years. Bagnall 1757.
