Lot Description:1933 Reo Flying Cloud 2-door Coupe
Ransom Eli Olds founded the REO Motor Car Company in 1904 after leaving the Olds Motor Works Company (Oldsmobile) which he had also founded. When he left Oldsmobile, he was precluded from using his name (Olds) for another automobile company, so he chose to use his initials (REO). By the fall of 1904, the new company began producing its first vehicles. REO produced a variety of cars and trucks (Speedwagons) until 1936 when car production ceased due to the effects of the depression.Engine no. 1SA53Chassis no. Q1NVAAA334001This vehicle was Australian delivered in 1933 to a Queensland Reo dealership. It is believed that the owner of the dealership kept this vehicle as his private car for many years. It was then professionally restored by its second owner c. 2000. The vehicle was repainted in the original red and reupholstered to match the original upholstery. The car still retains its 6-Volt system and all instruments and lights are in perfect working order. During restoration the motor was rebuilt and fitted with an electric petrol pump. It has the original semi-automatic gearbox and rare original side mirrors attached to the two spare wheels, as well as the original badged luggage rack. While this car is currently only club registered, it still retains its original Queensland 33 REO" number plates. Discreet blinkers have been fitted on the vehicle front and rear. Fitted with a "Dickie Seat" in the rear for extra passengers with a wind down rear window for communication to the cabin. Purchased by the current owner in 2007, making it a rare three-owner vehicle. In the last four years the vehicle has only travelled approxiamately 100 kilometres and is considered to be in near concourse condition." -
Notes:Exterior including paintwork and chrome in excellent condition. Interior in excellent condition. Engine Bay in good condition.
