Notes:The Funeral March of Don Juan was one of three etchings by Norman Lindsay banned from being exhibited at Adelaide's Artists Week in 1924. The Royal South Australian Society of Arts rejected the works on the grounds that they would 'debase rather than uplift art' [1]. The exhibition almost fell apart following Lindsay withdrawing all of his works and fellow artists also threatening to withdraw their works. As a result, a solo exhibition of Lindsay's works (which included the three banned etchings) was staged at John Preece's gallery and ran concurrently with the Artist's Week exhibition. While both exhibitions were highly popular, Lindsay's exhibition attracted greater crowds. [1] Bloomfield, L., The Complete Etchings of Norman Lindsay, Odana Editions: Sydney, 1998, pp.399-400
