Lot Description:An antique silver box set with a rare 1670 British Colonisation silver medal and a 1688 James II silver crown
Remains of gilt to both the crown with laurel decked and draped bust of James II framed by ‘IACOBVS.II.DEI.GRATIA’, the reverse with crowned cruciform shields with arms and date, etc. The 1670 medal to the lid by J. Roettier stamped with conjoined busts, the reverse with ‘DIFFVSVS IN ORBE BRITANNVS 1670’, framing the globe depicting Antarctica adjoined to a land mass in the area of Australia. The coin and medallion held by sprung rings to the box frame and not soldered. -
