  Colenso, William - Two diaries.
  1892 and 1893. 4to. Stationery bindings: 'Lett's Australasian diary and almanac'. Spines reinforced. Hinges of 1892 diary reinforced. Notice of funeral of Richard Deale Thomas Colenso tipped to inside front cover of this diary. Memo of letters sent by Colenso tipped to title page of this diary. Song, 'Maranga! ranga! raki! runga!', stapled to title page of 1893 diary. Provenance: originally from the collection of Henry Hill. Handwritten short entries range from humdrum weather reports to tantalising titbits: 'a letter from Hamuera (reply to mine of Apl 10th!) poor dear fellow! almost quite blind & in much pain from Rheumatism &c and so far off, no roads, that I cannot get to him!' They give a good idea of Colenso's movements but leave the reader craving more detail. G. Along with typed transcript of the diaries, cloth spine/paper-covered boards, G. [3].
