1st ed. London : James Nisbet and Co, 1836. 8vo. xvi, 351p. Frontispiece, errata, advertisement. 3386. Rebound. Blue cloth. Considerable wear, soiling and foxing to contents. Bookplate of Robert McNab on front pastedown. Stamp of Brighton Working Man's Institute on several pages. Stamp of Leys (?) Literary & Scientific Institute on several pages. Preliminary pages bound out of sequence. HMS Alligator called at the Bay of Islands in March 1834. The second visit in September and October was to rescue the Guard family and other Maori prisoners from the Harriet's wreck at Waimate Pa, Taranaki.
