Lot Description:A large bronze censer and cover in the form of a peach, late Ming Dynasty, 16th/17th century
with attached sprigs, bats and smaller fruit, some acting as a base
22cm high, 33cm wide -

References:Another peach formed bronze censer with similar design and size, but has parcel-gilt decoration and faked Xuande reign mark was sold in Sotheby's Hong Kong, 08/10/2014, lot: 3400. In addition, a bronze censer with similar design but in a form of a chayote was sold in Lempertz auction, Cologne, Germany, 06/12/2014, lot: 390.

Notes:In Chinese tradition, peach means longevity and bats mean happiness. The combination of these two elements in this censer, expressed good wish of happiness and longevity.
