Lot Description:A Set of Three Russian Imperial Porcelain Factory Plates From The Kremlin Service
Period Of Nicholas I (1825-1855). Each dessert plate centrally painted with double headed black imperial eagle with Cyrillic title of Nicholas I bordered by interspersed red blossom motifs and entwined foliate border with blue and green flowers, each with blue Imperial cipher of Nicholas I and red Kremlin Palace inventory numbers. -
Notes:This famed service was commissioned by Emperor Nicholas I in 1836. The artwork was designed by painter and archaeologist Fedor Solntsev (1801-1892) his inspiration for these plates were drawn from a jewelled, gold and enamelled plate made in 1667 for Natalia Kirilovna, née Naryshkina, wife of the second Romanov Tsar, Alexei Mikhailovich.
