    A Tall Chinese Carved Wooden Figure of Guanyin On A Buddhist Lion, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)
    the rounded face crowned with a high floriate headdress, seated with one leg raised up in 'rajalilasana' (royal posture) pose, the right hand held under the chin in 'vitarka mudra', while the left hand rests on the back of the beast. Guanyin portrayed astride the Buddhist lion 'wenshu pusa' is a traditionally recognised motif used as a symbol of wisdom, 154cm high
