Lot Description:1851 semi-literate entire headed 'Hobertown Barracks April 18th' & signed 'EH Bell' endorsed on the face 'Convicts Letter' but not countersigned, to L
with light '[crown]/FREE/22AP22/1851' cds in red, light London transit b/s of SP25/1851 & rated '8' for an incoming shipletter, 'LANCASTER' arrival b/s of the same date, redirected locally with 'MILNTHORPE' arrival b/s in blue, very minor soiling.

Notes:An unusually fine convict's letter. The writer complains of missing out on an inheritance (?) because 'you all supposed me to have been dead...If you did not get the letters [I sent] it was not my fault...', then most presumptuously '...If you send [my money] to the hands of Sir Thomas Dennison [several attempts to spell 'Lieutenant-Governor'] it will be quite safe. L Erl Gray can forward my money as he is a party consernd in the convicts And then it would save me the expense of the power of an atorney...'
